So you think you are interested in becoming a San Luis Obispo Hash House
Harrier eh? Well, joining is easy enough......just show up!!!  The usual run
"donation" is only $5.00 and to show how much we like you, your second run
is free!!  We also have a  special "thank you" at the end of the run just for
showing up.  There are no membership dues and you are not obligated to show
up to a specific number of runs.  All we ask is show up, have fun, meet some
new friends, run a little, do a couple of down-down's, rinse and repeat!!
run.  While Hashing is certainly something that does not
adhere to a specific set of rules there are some
"guidelines" you should know about.....

First of all, don't wear brand new shoes.  This is
considered a Hash crime and more than likely they will
get trashed the first mud puddle we hit anyway so what's
the point?  If you choose to wear brand new shoes don't
worry, we at the San Luis Obispo Hash House Harriers
want you to feel comfortable in them.  To do this we will
have you take them off in the Down-Down circle and
drink a beer out of them!!   So, if this doesn't bother
you then by all means You should wear brand new
shoes, otherwise I would find a pair of less desireable
ones.
Something else, while you probably
won't memorize everyone's Hash name
right out of the gate, but it is important
that you don't remember the name they
used to have before they started
Hashing.  Some of these names, like
Bob, Jane, Susan, Fred, etc. are no
longer used at the Hash unless it is part
of their "Hash Name". Calling someone
by their "old name" will result in a
down-down.  The good news is that if
someone else brought you, they get to
drink for you because they didn't
explain well enough.
Stretching, before, during, or after a Hash is most certainly a crime.  Again, we
don't want you to get the idea that this is any kind of "real" exercise and
stretching would indicate that you are in some way trying to make this an
"athletic" event in our eyes.   You should avoid this at all costs.  If you do feel
a cramp coming on then by all means, lean down and tie your shoe or
something. Perhaps fix a loose tag on the back of your shirt, but don't breath
heavy and look to the heavens while you are doing this.
important of all is just show up with a great
attitude and the ability to laugh at yourself and
others. (more importantly others)
"Come.........be one with us!!"
